Trumpet Legend Lew Soloff passed away in the early
morning hours of Sunday, March 8, 2015 in New York City The cause of death was a heart attack, according to his daughters Laura Solomon and Lena Soloff. “Dad had more friends than anyone I know. He was so loved by so many. His life overflowed with people who cared about him,” stated Ms. Solomon. A private funeral service is planned for Monday, March 9, 2015. Soloff, whose career spanned more than 50 years was the consummate New York jazz musician. The list of his musical associations which includes; Gil Evans, Blood Sweat and Tears, Frank Sinatra, Carla Bley, Barbra Streisand, Machito, Marianne Faithfull, Paul Shaffer, Manhattan Brass, Jon Faddis and Ornette Coleman exhibits his extraordinary range and talent.
